Thomas W. Winkhart has been in private practice since 1989, focusing on commercial, industrial and residential real estate development and senior assisted and memory care facility transactions, and business law. Tom has represented several developers in all aspects of projects, including capitalization, entity structuring, annexation, wetland permitting, environmental issues, zoning, financing and construction; some for over thirty years. He has also represented several developers, municipalities, townships and specially formed political subdivisions in creative development and financing transactions, including Tax Increment Financing, Opportunity Zone Funds, New Community Authority projects and Sales Tax Exemption projects.
Tom is rated AV-Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell Lawyer Ratings. In addition, he serves as president of Cornerstone Real Estate Title Company, Ltd., a full service commercial and residential real estate title and escrow company as an exclusive agent for Stewart Title.
Tom received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of Toledo and earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Akron School of Law. He is currently a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Stark County Bar Association Real Estate Committee, where he serves as Chairman, and the Corporate Law Committee.
Tom is a member of the Board of Directors of Ohio Gratings, Inc., a graduate of the Leadership Stark County program and a 23-year member of the Jackson Local School District Board of Education.
Tom and his family attend St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Canton. He and his wife of 38 years, Janelle, reside in Jackson Township, and are the proud parents of five children and even prouder grandparents of Theo and Mila.
